Liza is a fabulously hip Lebanese restaurant found in Paris 2nd arrondissement, tucked away between the Marais and Les Halles. Named after the owner, Liza Soughayar, Liza has been open for two years now and has received excellent reviews from some of the most demanding of critics. Reminiscent of a contemporary Beirut house, Liza is one of the most stylish Lebanese restaurants around, thanks to a team of some of Lebanon’s best interior designers. White subdued arches and muqarnas, funky lamps, beautiful brass tables and old Arabic movie posters on cool white and turquoise walls reflect a modern and hip Lebanon. As for the food, head chef Karim Haidar has recreated classic dishes into modern masterpieces, with beautifully presented mezzes such as the ever popular lamb tartare and the amazingly good pomegranate seed topped purée of aubergine. Robust mains like lamb confit, salty sweet grilled meatballs and black mullet with fresh coriander are all cooked to perfection. Liza has won over quite a few famous hearts in Paris, with Depardieu and Lagerfeld giving their seal of approval, a testament to just how good this sleek and stylish Lebanese restaurant is.
