If there is such a restaurant genre as 'Parisian Moroccan' the L'Atlas restaurant exemplifies it. Known for its warm service, elegant setting, and inventive Moroccan cuisine, L'Atlas is a popular address in the Latin Quarter and is very much in keeping with it's Left Bank clientele. Expect dishes including couscous with various meats (merguez sausage, grilled chicken, tiny and scrumptious meatballs in a rich sauce), and various tagines: lamb and fig, chicken with preserved lemon or the “tagine sans viande” (a Moroccan ratatouille, with zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes and peppers all perfectly melded by long intense heat). They also offer a great choice of vegetarian and seafood dishes, plus imaginative combinations like grouper fish with saffron and mango, monkfish perfumed with cinnamon, or even a sea bass and fennel fondue tagine. Decorated with mosaics and ornamental plasterwork, the dining room at L'Atlas is perfectly lovely; so is the service. Don't leave without trying the assiette gourmande - delicious sorbets surrounded by masses of fresh fruit and delicate little cakes - it's out of this world!! L'Atlas comes highly recommended, but is always busy so booking in advance is essential.
